This modern residence was built by His Late Highness, Maharaja Dr. Karni Singhji of Bikaner, in the Art Deco of style which was very popular in the forties. Eighteen well decorated and comfortable rooms are open to travellers. Authentic Marwari cuisine and simple continental meals are served in traditional style. Karni Bhawan Palace has sprawling grounds most suitable for large receptions and weddings. The Palace is also a convenient overnight stopover on the way to Gajner and Nagaur known for its grand Mosques, painted Palaces, annual Cattle fair with colorful dance and folk festivals.
The Palace's ideal location makes it practical to visit the Lallgarh Palace Museum, Junagarh Fort, the old Jain Temples, Bhadreshwar Temple, Lakshminath Temple, Devikund Sagar comprising major cenotaphs traditionally known as Chattris and Asia's biggest Camel Breeding Farm, 10 Kms south of the city. The Temple of Goddess Karni, the family deity of the House of Bikaner, is at Deshnok, half an hours' drive from Bikaner.
While going to Jaisalmer, the Karni Bhawan Palace not only provides the traveller an excellent overnight respite but provides the traveller an opportunity to explore the as yet unspoilt city of Bikaner.
